What’s on in August in Cornwall
It won’t be summer forever, and with plenty more sunshine forecast in August, we’re determined to squeeze the most out of this season by the coast.
If you’re visiting us this August, keep reading for all the goings-on across the county over the next month, from music festivals to carnivals, and our town’s own Royal Regatta.
1st-31st: Silo Sessions, Golant
Where: 15 min drive from Fowey
Head to Bar Silo, Cornwall’s rustic bar on the farm, for a summer of live music and drinks in the sunshine. Just outside of Fowey, located in the waterside village of Golant, it’s a great spot to check out during your stay.
7th-16th: Falmouth Week
Where: 1 hour 15 min drive from Fowey
Combine world-class sailing with a packed programme of live music, family entertainment, markets, and shoreside events. Whether you’re watching the races from the waterfront or soaking up the festival atmosphere in the town, Falmouth Week is a highlight of what’s on this August in Cornwall.
8th: Beer, Cider, and Shanty Festival at The Safe Harbour

Grab a pint and get ready to sing the songs of the sea at The Safe Harbour pub’s Beer, Cider, and Shanty Festival. This is a joint fundraiser for Fowey RNLI and Funnybone Youth Theatre, so raise a glass and stomp your feet for two great causes.
9th: Bude Summer Food Festival
Where: 1 hour 15 min drive from Fowey
Hosted in the stunning grounds of The Castle in Bude, this food festival is one of many across the county – offering a chance to taste your way around an artisan farmer’s market and try street food from Cornwall.
16th-22nd: Fowey Royal Regatta

The busiest week of the year in Fowey. We’ll be celebrating Fowey Royal Regatta on the water with sailing races, a vibrant carnival procession, the classic vintage car show, and the annual giant pasty parade, plus lots of music, food, and celebrations.
27th-31st: Cornwall Folk Festival, Wadebridge
Where: 45 min drive from Fowey
If you’re visiting Cornwall on the August bank holiday weekend, hot step it over to Wadebridge for the annual Cornwall Folk Festival for three days of folk music, dancing, and drinks in the sun.
